## Why Trancoso

Trancoso is a former fishing village in the municipality of Porto Seguro, in southern Bahia. Around its car-free historic square, the Quadrado, it has kept the low-density building, cliff-top views over the Atlantic and long natural beaches that many Brazilian resort towns have lost. Nearby areas each have their own character: Itapororoca, Rio da Barra and Praia do Espelho to the south, the Terravista golf community to the north, and the more remote villages of Caraíva and Corumbau. The region is reached through Porto Seguro airport (BPS).
